JACKSON MS - In the aftermath of Wednesday's tornadoes, portions of
Mississippi and Alabama are devastated and in need of immediate help. The
Radio People of Mississippi and Alabama, 14 stations located in Jackson MS,
Meridian MS and Dothan AL, have coordinated with local businesses in order
toassist residents and families who have voiced a desire to help their
neighbors.
The Radio People in Jackson will be taking donations at the Flowood Chamber
of Commerce beginning, April 28th, from 5 pm to 8 pm, at their
offices off of Lakeland Drive (near El Potrillo). Donations will continue at
the Flowood Chamber (starting at 6 am Friday April 29th) until the
truck is filled, and additional donation sites around the metro area will be
announced Friday.
Currently, families in affected areas are in need of bottled water, diapers,
hand sanitizer, and hygiene items (including toothpaste and tooth
brushes, soap, washcloths, shampoo, wipes, and sunscreen), as well as
cleanup items such as work gloves, plastic totes and tubs, tarps, shovels
andtrash bags. Tubs and tarps will be critical in helping people salvage what
they can find of their belongings.
Authorities are asking that NO CLOTHES BE DONATED AT THIS TIME. However, new
or gently used blankets, sheets and towels are being accepted.
In addition, there is a need for on site volunteers to help accept, sort and
pack the donated items into trucks. If you would like to volunteer your
