Lingo

Coupon Terms & Abbreviations

CONFUSED? Here's a guide so you can speak "coupon."

$1/1, etc. = Indicates the value of a coupon, $1 off 1 item in this instance but could be any value, $4/2 ($4 off 2 items), $0.25/1 ($0.25 off 1) etc.
BLINKIES = In Store Smart Source Coupons that blink to grab attention
BOGO/B1G1 = Buy One Get One
CAT, CATALINA = Coupons which print at the register after your purchase is made. These can usually be used like cash on your next purchase. However, if the say “manufacturer’s coupon” on them, you *should* be able to use them at any store.
DOUBLE COUPON = Coupon that grocery store doubles in value
EB/ECB = ExtraCare Bucks (CVS "money")
FAR = Free After Rebate
FILLER = An item or items you buy in order to get your total up to a certain amount in order to use a percentage off coupon
IVC = Instant Value Coupon (Walgreens, found in the monthy EasySaver booklet)
IPQ, IP = Internet Printable coupon
MFR = Manufacturer coupon
MIR = Mail in Rebate
OOP = Out of Pocket
OVERAGE = Coupon value exceeds cost of product
OYNO = On your next order
P&G = Proctor & Gamble (Newspaper Insert)
Peelie = Coupon you peel off package
Q = Coupon
Regional = A coupon or deal available in only a specific area
RC = Rain Check
RP = Red Plum (Newspaper Insert)
RR = Register Rewards (see Walgreens 101)
SCR = Single Check Rebate (see Rite Aid 101)
SS = Smart Source (Newspaper Insert)
STACKING = Stores that allow multiple use of coupons – manufacturer’s & store coupons or rebates.
TEAR PAD = A pad of coupons or MIR near a product or on display
UPR = Up Reward (Rite Aid "money" to use on future transactions; see Rite Aid 101)
VV=Video Value (coupons exclusive to Rite Aid)
WYB= When You Buy
