Walgreens 101

Walgreens 101
Walgreens isn't my favorite store because it seems like more counting  and thinking is involved, but there are good deals to get in on! Especially in the clearance section!
Print the Walgreens Coupon Policy and have it in your coupon binder/purse. These policies do change so pay attention to updates.
Wags Perks
Register Rewards (RR)
Register Rewards is "Walgreens money" that prints out after you purchase an item advertised for earning RR. You can find RR deals by looking in the weekly ad. There are individual products that produce RR as wells as deals on groups of products (ex. buy $20 worth of coke products, receive $5 RR.) There will be several items you can get more than free, FREE, or close to free once you pair a coupon with the RR. For example, an item may cost $4.99 and have a manufacturer coupon for $1. You use the coupon, pay $3.99 and get back a $4.99 RR. You will have made $1 for buying the product!
Stacking
Walgreens has store brand coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons. The coupons can be found in several different places.
* in the weekly ad
* in the monthly coupon book (located at the front of the store by the weekly ads)
* in books at the pharmacy area (often Diabetes and You magazine)
* online at walgreens.com (click the "save" tab, then "coupons"
* in the walgreens children activity books (costs $0.99 found in kids workbooks/books)
Don't forget...
1 - You must have the same # of items as manufacturer coupons and register rewards. Walgreen store coupons do not need to be included in this count!! For example, if I have 5 total coupons, I need to have 5 items. What if you only have 4 items?? Find a "filler" item. You can almost always find an item for $0.05 - $0.20! Definitely look at clearance items, weekly deals, candy, seasonal stuff.Make that item purposeful!! My son loves stickers and I can often find these very inexpensively! One week they had peroxide for $0.29 so that was a great item to have or donate!
2 - Give your coupons in the correct order. Cashiers are not always friendly when the register beeps, so this order will help offset potential problems. Give your coupons in this order. I hold them in my hand and give them to the cashier one at a time!
  1 - Register Rewards
  2 - Manufacturer Coupons
  3- Store Coupons
3 - Register Rewards cannot exceed subtotal. Say your total (before tax) is $1.00 and you have $1.50 in RR. You cannot use the RR because you are exceeding your total due.
4 -"Rolling"Since RR are not tied to a savings card, there is no limit on purchases. However, you can't use a RR to buy the same item and expect to get another RR. For example, say ketchup is $1.99 and produces a $1.99 RR. You can't use your $1.99 RR to then purchase another ketchup and get another $1.99 RR. You CAN buy a different item that produces RR.
If your RR does not print, tell the cashier first. In my experience, this is what has happened when my catalina did not print...1 - cashier rerang the item and it printed, 2 - cashier gave cash for the amount of RR I was supposed to get, 3 - cashier said they could do nothing. If the cashier can do nothing, I usually return the item. You can also call the catalina company and tell them it did not print. (i've never done this for a RR, but called for a Kroger deal once!) The # is 1-888-322-3814 - you must have your receipt when you call!
