Reader Jennifer sent this to me last week.
"So didn't realize till just now why the girl at Walgreens tells me I need to get laffy taffy...cause i had more coupons than items...Have you ever had to do that?"My answer was, "Yes! That's one of the rules of the Walgreens Drugstore Game!" When you are shopping at Walgreens, you have to have as many items as you do coupons (manufacturer coupons and register rewards.) Store coupons do not count against this total! If you don'thave enough items, you purchase a "filler" item. A filler should be the cheapest item you can find! The Walgreens cashier is suggesting Laffy Taffy because they are $0.13 and are strategically placed by the register!
Here's a scenario so you understand a little better!
Say you buy 2 Cottonelle, 1 crest, 1 nivea bodywash. You have a Walgreens Store coupon for cottonelle, 2 manufacturer cottonelle coupons, 1 crest manufacturer coupon, 1 nivea manufacturer coupon, and 2 register rewards. Your item total =4. Your coupon total=6. (not 7 because we don't count the store coupon!) Therefore you need 2 filler items!
I suggest you check out the clearance section for fillers! You are WASTING MONEY if you get fillers that are more than $0.25! As always, make your filler purposeful! (Get something you NEED - like say, Milk!)
